hey everyone. I'm a highschool senoir that was admitted to both usc film school and nyu tisch for film and tv production. I am a brooklyn resident, and of course one would think I'd go to NYU but I actually took a few film classes at the school and was disappointed. Therefore I applied to USC. I am visiting next week, and thinking things over. I am under the impression that after USC job opportunities will be more....available? It just seems like LA is the place to be if I want to work in the industry some day. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Help?
Can't decide which to choose? >.<
(I was also admitted to Bard, Boston University School of Communications for Film, Muhlenberg, Emerson, Macauley Honors, and was weightlisted at Vassar. I visited all these schools and am not thrilled about Emerson.)
Any advice would greatly be appreciated!

Congratulations on all of your acceptances! Both schools are excellent. Tisch has a reputation for being more of a school that caters to the indie filmmaker, but has also produced some industry heavy hitters such as Spike Lee, and USC has the reputation of being more of a “film industry” town. I think you cannot go wrong with either. USC tends to be a very competitive place as you get up in the years (not everyone can direct a senior film for example) but that really does perpare you for the type of competition you will face in the industry. Both will give you a very good liberal arts education as well. I think in making your choice consider:
- Do you like the school and the campus
- Do they offer the type of courses you would like to take
- What might you want to do later, and where do you think you will make the best connections to futher your career development
- Where do you feel the most comfortable. There really is something to feeling a place is where you belong.

My son was in the same position last year and choose USC. He is VERY happy there and is glad he made the choice he did.
