I know that Ithaca is rolling, so I'm hoping that I'll from it relatively soon but unfortunately, I applied extremely close to the deadline mid January, I believe. Its been two months now, and Im getting a little worried, because I think that it took about two months (perhaps a little longer?) for my other friends to find out about their admission decisions. So to accepted students out there: how long did it take between the time you submitted your application and received your acceptance letter?

My S sent his application early ( for Park scholar and leadership ) and just got his letter yesterday-he is in. So ...it took a long while.

I applied RD and got my acceptance letter in late Feb

i applied mid october and heard last saturday. it doesnt seem like theres any rhyme or reason to when people are hearing.

Okay. Thanks everyone! I feel better now!

My S applied very close to the deadline and also applied for the Leadership Scholarship. He got his acceptance around March 8th, but no word on the scholarship. A friend of his applied in Dec. but hasn't heard anything yet. Not sure if the friend applied for the same scholarship.

My D applied mid October RD and just received her acceptance in the mail on Saturday. No merit or financial award came yet. Anyone know how long it takes for the financial aid letter to arrive?

merit aid comes with the acceptance letter, but i dont know about the need-based.

hi everyone. i applied RD and got my applic in in november, and heard from them in late january. i got NO merit aid , and if you have not heard about merit aid by now-- you did not get it. merit aid comes with the acceptance letter. i also got my FAFSA package from ithaca already and got only loans. so ithaca altho my top choice is going to be a very very expensive ride. i applied for the leadership scholarship, but did not hear yet. i called the admissions office and begged for them to reconsider (rather my parents called ) some merit aid, but altho very nice, they would not reconsider giving me any merit. My cousin goes to ithaca and loves it, but my uncle said in hindsight he would have sent her to a SUNY school for almost nothing and she would have gotten just as good of an education. my uncle says the tuiton goes up 5% a year and Ithaca is getting way too expensive. I still would love to go there, but I have been offered many merit scholarships at other schools and a full Make a Difference scholarship worth 120,000 for the 4 years at a small LAC college, Green Mountian College. Altho GMC was a big safety school,I am seriously thinking about Green Mountain because they treat me as a person, not a bunch of numbers. They have an interest in having me be part of their academic community. They have been extremely forthright and personable and altho they are not at the level of the other colleges, I am starting to reevaluate my ideas about education and fitting into a community and feel like I am truly wanted at a college for my accomplishments not only my GPA and SAT scores. GMC gave me a full ride based on my community/humanitarian / real world experiences. It is a scholarship for people who have made a differnce in other's lives. I live overseas and have had opportunities to travel to developing countries and do some volunteer work. This is, according to GMC, the only scholarship of its type in USA. I am not putting down colleges like Ithaca, I would go there in a heartbeat, but there are other things to consider besides status of a school. One has to feel welcomed and wanted at the school as well. Just some recent ephiphanies.
I have not gotten that sense of caring at Ithaca or other bigger schools. I wrote to the Dean of the school at ithaca (in my major) and the Dean never responded to my inquires. The VP of GMC is calling me tonight to discuss my concerns about the school--sorry for the pun, but that makes a difference.
Ithaca is a great great school. i have 3 cousins there, and they all love it, so if you can afford to go I would. good luck to all.

ndd, I do not blame you for taking a good look at Green Mountain. I would do the same if I were you.

As far as financial aid, I felt that Ithaca was very fair with our family.

it took Ithaca a long time to send my my acceptance due to a mistake on their part. I sent in all of my application materials in Nov. sometime before thanks giving. On Feb. 14th I was getting anxious becaus I hadn't heard anything, I called up the office and they said they never received my money! I was on the common app. site the same time i was talking to the admissions officer and it blatently said I had sent in nov. I told the admissions officer and she was like well i don't see it... maybe i'll check one more place... and THEN she found I paied. After little mishap was cleared up, i got my letter a weeks later. ( Just last Saturday actually) But usually the letter should come in about 3 weeks. god that was such an ordeal!
