To AdmissionsDaniel - Different Names

What if an applicant uses different names? For instance, although it is required to use the legal name for the application, what if the student uses a different name which appears on school records such as transcript, counselor recommendation forms, and SAT scores? How would the admission office organize the files if the transcript and recommendation arrives before the actual application is submitted?

I believe any envelope for JHU needs: Your full legal name, Your Birthday, and your school name/address.

They probably check for social security # if you wrote that as well.

Hmm, I see. However, the applicant's social security number is usually not listed in the high school transcript. So would this transcript just sit in the office waiting to be filed together with the other application forms that are already there?

Moreover, for teacher recommendations, the teachers will most likely address the applicants by their "school" name, and not the full legal name. How would this problem be dealt with?

I would really like to hear what Mr. Daniel has to say for all of my questions. :)

Don't you give an envelope for your recs to your teachers? JHU probably sorts out piles first by looking at the information on the envelope.

If you're really concerned about this, send them a letter along with your guidance counselor's forms, informing JHU about the difference in names.

And most importantly!!!!

Wait for AdmissionsDaniel to respond :)

I just found out this issue of different names is a pet peeve of Mr. Daniel.....

From the blog:
"What are your Admissions pet peeves? (What drives you crazy?): Here's just a sample of few of my pet peeves: (1) Applicants who submit their application with one name, their test scores with a different name, and their transcript or recs with another arrangement of their name."

(O_O) haha sorry Mr. Daniel but please help...

It is your responsibility to make sure that all records sent in get filed under your full legal name.
