To All Admitted Students

Welcome and Congratulations on your admission to GW!

My name is Alex Graham and I am just like you, a member of the Class of 2010, but as an ED1 applicant. I hope everyone who desires to enroll will do so in a timely and considerate manner. I say this because you may soon become a bit frustrated with GW Admissions as they will soon be overloaded with over a thousand seperate checks for every student. I highly endorse visiting the Freshman site now and familiarizing yourself with the processes of being a matriculating freshman, visit the site below:

If you have any other questions feel free to message, IM (grapkoski), or post back on this board, I should be able to answer most, if not all your questions. Once again congratulations and I hope to meet you this summer at Colonial Inauguration or this fall at Welcome Week! Welcome to GW!

Also forgot to mention... join our MySpace group below

Honest question here. Grapkoski, if you're class of 2010, why do you feel you have such expertise about GW?

haha, here's a word of advice to all newly accepted students to GW: grapkoski knows much more about GW than probably even the attending undergrad students right now! he's the one you want to go to for any questions about GW. all of us ED students have already accepted him as the GW guru.

.....how so?

To be quite honest the reason I know so much about GW is because I spent my summer here taking classes within the GW summer scholar program and slowly I was able to break down the GW administration and really figure out how this well greased.... well clogged system works. I don't mean to elevate myself to a different field and make everyone think I am better than them, but I just would like to be helpful with all of the essentially useless information I know about GW. Anyways, congrats again...

hi...are you on aim by any chance.

i have some questions about GWU. :D

Dear Grapkoski or anyone else for that matter,

Since it seems like you know a lot about GW, I just wanted to know do you know if a high # of applicants are deferred from Early Decision II? Also if you could kindly tell me, what percentage of deferred applicants are accepted? I still haven't heard from GW. I called and they had the correct e-mail, but I've heard nothing. I'll call admissions tomorrow again, but in the meanwhile if you could help me out I'd really appreciate it!!! :) :) :)

~CRAZY 4 GW

Graposki -- what school did u apply to (elliot, journalism, etc)?

Honestly, statistics of that nature I do not know, but I will have direct access next year, if I get a job in admissions like I hope to. I will guesstimate to be annoying that less than 2 percent are deferred, mostly because GW has a pretty firm policy for ED applicants that either is a yes or no.... it is for everyone's benefit, but if you were deferred you certainly have a good chance.

Good luck to you, nkmungeek!

marlene88: I am a student of the School of Business... DUQUES HALL ROCKS!

I've heard that GW now does not defer students from Early Decision (either round) unless in very special cases. This is a new change.

hey i just got accepted to gw and im gonna go there next year...do u kno wut dorm is the best one to dorm at

Well that is a matter of what you want, GW has dorms (or now known as 'Houses') of all types. This year it is mostly focused on Potomac House (a brand new dorm for our class) and Thurston the classic dorm for freshman. Thurston holds over a thousand freshman and thus is party central on campus, but for some that just doesn't work. Visiting in between the dorms is easy as anyone can just sign you in. The vern is the other campus of GW that undergrads live at and it has a normal classic college feel with the trees and hills, also the dorms there are VERY nice, but the campus is a bus trip away from Foggy Bottom. I encourage you to visit and welcome to GW!

Just because you live in Thurston doesn't mean you're expected to party everynight. If you don't live in Thurston, that doesn't mean that you'll be a social outcast. At GW, it definitely depends on what kind of housing situation you want. Don't stress too much about it. You'll meet tons of new people and make friends all throughout freshmen year no matter where you live.

Personally, if I had the choice, I'd live in Potomac House because it's brand new.

I found this link at the GWU website. Clickety-click-click.

Which dorm do you guys think you want? I was considering Fulbright, and I was just curious if that was a 'party' dorm too.

Fulbright, I find, is a mix between more social and more study. I partied a few times in Fulbright freshmen year. It definitely depends on who lives there. So, the more partiers who live in Fulbright, the more parties.
