To all EA applicants - have you been contacted for an interview yet?

Just curious if any contacts have been made yet. :)

Nope! Submitted my app in the middle of October. I live in Sacramento if that makes a difference.

I’m in Colorado and I have not been contacted yet. I heard some in South Cal have though

I submitted on the 15th and interviewed on the 21st. I live in the Inland Empire, in Southern California.

Do international SCEA applicants get an interview too?

It seems as though anyone w/ an interview is accepted… I have yet to hear of one person who wasn’t interviewed and accepted. Furthermore, I know that intl.s must have an interview

You’re spreading myths Gekko. Interviews don’t mean acceptance. No interviews don’t mean rejection. The interview is the smallest portion (and very subjective) of the applicant file. Harvard places the correct amount (very little) weight onto it.

Here is what their website says:

Q: Is there a personal interview?

A: When and where possible, we try to arrange for applicants to meet with alumni/ae in or near their school communities. No candidate is at a disadvantage if an interview cannot be arranged. In the U.S., Canada and the U.K., an alumnus/a will contact an applicant directly by phone, email, or letter if such an interview is possible. If you live outside these areas, please check our website for country-specific instructions.

Gekko: please don’t jump the gun with assumptions that will take a life of their own. Plz refer to official Harvard directives.

Amending my post: for many internationals where alum interviewers are far fewer, it’s standard practice to sort through the applicants and assign interviewers to the most likely candidates.

Know someone who interviews for Harvard…only 1 out of seven she interviewed last year were accepted

@lillypod: Which is still better than the actual acceptance rate.

@ALL EA APPLICANTS: Be patient. I do interviews in the tri-state area, and I haven’t received any interview assignments yet. I’m sure I will in the near future. Because this is the first year of the reinstatement of EA, the admissions office is probably a bit overwhelmed in dealing with the influx of applications. They’re human. Give them some time. Also, despite the Ad office’s request for alum interviewers to be prompt in contacting applicants because of the quick turnaround time for EA, not all interviewers and regional coordinators will actually heed the advice. Interviewers are volunteers with busy schedules.

Don’t worry about things you have no control over, and deal with the things that you do have control over.

Yes, I submitted on the 28th of October and was contacted for an interview on the 31st.

Getting an interview does not mean that you get accepted. I know people in my school who got interviewed and rejected. As for myself, I received two interviews in the process. My first one was sooo late that it was after the interview time period, then ended up getting another interview 2 weeks before the Harvard decision came out. But, I know as a fact that interviews are really important in the Harvard process.

Yes! Submitted 10/15. Contacted 10/21. Interviewed 10/27. Houston area.

Submitted on the 24th, contacted on the 26th.

Submitted 10/15
Contacted 11/1
Interview 11/8

Submitted 10/23. Contacted 11/1. Interview 11/4.

Tri-State Area

Applied on Oct. 31 and got contacted today (Nov. 2/3, depending on your time zone). It’s rather inconvenient for me right now as I’m currently not in the U.S.

Not yet, but I’m an international

“Amending my post: for many internationals where alum interviewers are far fewer, it’s standard practice to sort through the applicants and assign interviewers to the most likely candidates.”

T26E4, then does that mean the interview for international students weigh far more than US students?

Has anyone from Northern California been contacted? Starting to get worried over here :/
