My daughter is going to declare herself as a pre-med student and major in biology this upcoming fall of 2006. I am here to ask what are some good study materials in order for her to prepare herself during the summer, such as text books, study guides, and etc. Also, what else does she need to do over the summer so that she does not fall behind in classes? Thank you very much.

NOTHING AT ALL. The point of college is to learn, as a first sem. student she will probably take bio and chem. There isn't much you can do yourself short of picking up the textbook and reading it for fun. You pay for college to learn, so utilize it then.

yes nothing at all. she doesn't need to buy extra text books/study guide to learn the materials, that's the whole purpose of classes in college. as long as she pays attention in classes and do her homework, she won't fall behind.
the first year bio/chem classes are probably review from high school anyway.

i agree with the last two posters (i'm sure this isnt the answer u came here looking for)....the summer between HS and college is for rest and relaxation...there will be enough time to worry about classes and study when she actually gets to college

I couldn't agree more. The best thing she can do to prepare for college is to enjoy her last moments of actually living at home with her family and high school friends. The summer before college is, perhaps, the most memorable college in most students lives. She should take a long road trip, hike a mountain range, spend a day in NYC... rpetty much jsut do something that she's always wanted to do.

Anyhue, the pre-college summer is meant for living and loving life... which, I guess, all of life is for.

Thank you to all who commented. I will tell my daughter to keep those tips in her mind.
