to all you drivers

anyone know what happens if you lose part of your permit. like they give you that big ass envelope sized thing with the card in it. i punched the card out but lost the other part of it. will this be a problem when i go to get my license. i also have my paper from the nj dmv website saying i changed the test spot.

i have to say that even though im not getting license until january, im already panicking for the other part of the permit and im scared of this test. its more scary than the SATs

new jersey is weird. thend.

ok but how does that answer the question

it doesnt.

Which part did you punch out? I don't think mine had any perforated edges, and I didn't get mine in an envelope...

Wow you guys got cards for your permits? All I got was a printout on normal weight paper that said "Class C driver's permit - This is a license to drive a motor vehicle only, etc etc etc"

But to answer your question, my guess is that losing your permit has the same consequences as losing your license.... none. You tell them you lost it, they print you out a new one. No biggie. But it sounds like you have the card, and just threw away the other part, which I assume is useless information. Don't sweat it.

but then again it's the dmv. so you could wait 2 hours in line and then get sent home.

If you need a new one it costs $20 or something.

OHH I know what card you're talking about. I don't think it will be a problem, since it has your info, right? You may want to go there and check, though, if you want to be 100% sure that you can get your license on your birthday.

Me, I'm skipping the APUS exam to get my license. :)

all the card has on it is a big lng number and it says motor vehicle comm. etc.

EUREKA! i found the other part right after i posted that

that's good, because if you didn't you would need to get a new one and re-take the written test (in OH at least).

Don't worry about the test...it's so easy. I got 95% and I never practiced manueverability or anything (suprisingly, I got nothing wrong on that part!)

they actually give you a % grade?? I thought it was pass/fail. I just suck at parallel parking

Haha I think I got like an 82%. You needed an 80 to pass.

You guys do it based on percents? That's new to me.

Ours is based on the point system...that's how you get your license, and that's how they take it away too. But on the driving test, you can't get more than 6 points taken off, I think, to pass the test. And certain things like running a stop sign, or hitting the curb are automatic failures.

But for the original question, not that it hasn't already been answered, but if you lose your permit just go back to the dmv or to the express dmv and they will print you out a replacement.

The percentage was for the written test. To get your permit, you must 1) be 16, 2) get an 80% or higher on the written test, and 3) obtain 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving instruction with a registered driving school (<--we have to know this stuff for the written test!).

To get your license, you must 1) be 17 years old OR have your permit for six months, whichever comes later, and 2) pass the road test, which is pass/fail.

Oh yeah, I took the written test in fall last year in driver's ed. and got a 96 or 98 or something but yeah i thought you meant they give a percent for the road test. I was like, crap....imagine .....forgot to put on blinkers -10 or something.

so what does everybody drive? I just got a 2005 magnum and love it.

Toyota Camry. Go Brown.
