to all you fellas that applied post-deadline

i emailed pomona admissions about sending the required signatures form late.
thought i'd share this just in case any of you had the same problem, because i breathed a HUGE sigh of relief when i read this today.

===============================================================

Hi _________,

Thanks for your email. Many of our applicants are unable to visit campus -- there's no need to worry about that.

As for the other forms, it's all right if they arrive shortly after the deadline. Please have them sent to us as soon as possible.

Best Wishes,

Dear magnito,

We notice that you initiated an application to Pomona College on the Common Application website, but have yet to submit it officially. Because you began your application prior to the deadline, we will allow you to complete and submit it by Monday, January 11, 2010.

Should you also have supplemental forms to submit, please mail them to us no later than Monday, January 11, 2010.

Please note, if you submitted your original application via mail OR you submitted your QuestBridge application for our consideration, you do not need to submit another copy via the Common Application site. We receive much mail this time of year, and simply may not have processed your paper submission yet. If this is the case, there is no need to worry; you will receive an email notification once it has been recorded in our system.

Pomona application forms and supplements are available online at [Application Forms](http://www.pomona.edu/admissions/applying/applicationforms.asp). Materials you mail in should be addressed to:

If you have any questions regarding this email, please contact us at (909) 621-8134. When your application is complete, a notification will be sent to you via email.

Thank you!

this looks like desperation, to me

Not desperate at all. Smart. On the human side, they’re giving everyone a little breather. On the statistical side…more applicants + same # admitted = higher selectivity rate. It’s a win-win.

magnito, many if not most top schools do this for the exact reasons ilmkmom listed
