Ok so Im a student at UCLA right now and am an anthropology major. I have been on here and it seems like there is all this worrying/stressing out about anthropology at UCLA and worrying if it is hard to get in with a 3.2..Here is my advice for anthro majors
If you have a 3.2 gpa, plus TAP, Plus completed the 3 prerequisites for anthropology you are safe to say, a Lock In.
I myself had a 3.2 last year, was TAP certified, and completed the 3 prerequisites and I got in just fine. I did nothing stellar, just wrote my essays, and got as i mentioned a 3.2. This is For TAP. Tap is pretty much a gurantee for unimpacted majors, what other people say is just wrong. They say TAP gives you "priority", but its pretty much a LOCK IN. UCLA does not want to get peoples hopes up and they dont want to make it sound like its easy. So to those people who got 3.2 gpas, are anthro majors, and will complete TAP, relax and rest your brains over the next months, till you find out you have been accepted into UCLA!
Go Bruins:)
P.S. I know other people who get into UCLA, who did TAP get in with 3.1, 3.0's too.

good info MA

Aren’t there 4 pre-reqs for Anthro BA? Linguistics, Archaeology, biological anthro, and cultural anthro?

There are only 3 at the community college. You take the other at ucla. I was just fine completeing 3. Sweetie, you are confusing the 4 branches of anthropology, which are the 4 you listed above lol

No, I’m correct.

[ASSIST Report: LAPC 11-12 UCLA Articulation Agreement by Major](http://web1.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=LAPC&ria=UCLA&ia=LAPC&oia=UCLA&aay=11-12&ay=11-12&dora=ANTHRO)

They key with majors like Anthropology and Philosophy are to finish ALL the pre-reqs! Most CC’s don’t offer the transferable Linguistics course and UCLA is well aware…so at minimum 3, but if you can go to another CC to complete all 4 you’re golden!

Also, the average GPA admitted was a 3.56 because there are a lot of 3.6-4.0 Anthro transfers who offset those with a 3.2-3.5

I’m pretty anxious. I recalculated my GPA to be about 3.41. My major GPA is about 3.88. I am not sure how accurate these numbers are but they seem about right.

Since I am a UC to UC transfer, I am responsible for the pre reqs set by my school. I have completed 2/3 and the third pre req is currently in progress. I feel bad because most applicants seem to have 3, 4 anthro classes completed BEFORE Fall 2011 whereas I will only have just completed three by Spring 2012. Will that hurt me?

I didn’t really have any ECs and my essays were just whatever…
I can really see this going either way.

I applied to UCLA as a Study of Religion major. Do you guys think I have a chance? I have a 3.66 at my CCC, but a year at a private brings my cumulative down to 3.2 (when I was premed and my dad was dying). I didn’t get the chance to do TAP, but I’ll have a few prereqs(or just recommended courses?) done.
