Hey guys. I'm in Manhattan, NYC and I'm just wondering what's the most efficient way of getting to Wesleyan on a Friday night and leaving from Wesleyan on a Saturday night. Thanks!

Get the train from Penn Station into Meriden and then taxi to Wesleyan? That would be my advice.

Are there plenty of taxis near both Meriden and Wesleyan? That’s what I’m most worried about.

I’m sure there are. Stations tend to have taxis. If worried, you can always call information and get a cab company’s number, then call a cab.

I just saw this thread, could be too late?
We had the same issue, what we did was, reserved cab round trip ahead of the time. took Amtrak to Meriden.
There were random cabs around the Meriden station when we got there in the morning. I asked around while waiting for our reserved cab to show up and they gave us about the same price- 30-35 bucks ( tip included) one way, so getting there should be OK.
But coming back could be a issue, especially if late night and weekend. I confirmed our reservation was through during day and the cab did show up in front of Wes admission building on time to catch the train.
It was a weekday but bank holiday and at night, Meriden station was deserted, building was closed.

Wes changed the website and I can no longer find the link to the car service company we used.
I can not recall the name, but someone in this forum mentioned it, and said it gives same price to go to New Heaven. I have not confirmed this, bit if it is true, that saves you lots of trouble and money, since train need to be connected at New heaven from/to the city anyway.
In that case you can take metro north from Grand Central to New Heaven, that will be way cheaper and there are more frequent services.
I found out later that taking metro north to NH, then change to Amtrak from NH to Meriden would still save you about 20 bucks round trip. Also convenient for us since we can start from Eastside instead of Penn station.

Wonderful school that is what a pain to get there if not driving…

Executive 2000 Taxi (800-801-0361 or 860-635-8222), a Middletown cab service, also makes connections to train stations and the airport. Call for reservation. Approximate charges: $69* to New Haven train station, $59* to Bradley International Airport, $25-30* to Meriden train station. Accepts all major credit cards. (*Rate for up to four people)

So it is twice more to NH, I guess it will costs you one way or another…

i love you sooooooo much, bears and dogs. tyty
