To AP or not to AP ?

Im going to be a junior now and registration is coming soon but i couldn't decide on whether I should take apush .

I'll be taking :
AP Lang <thats it
maybe or maybe not apush.

my freshman year - first semester : 3.83
second semester : 3.83

my soph year - first : 3.33 weighted , 3.16 unweighted
second : 3.5 weighted , 3.33 unweighted
rank for soph year was 123 out of 546

^kind of slipped

I'm getting my act together now for junior but i just don't know if i should take apush because i took apeuro soph year and got a 2 on the exam . it was like a trauma for me since i thought i did fine . . .

I know one ap lang isnt enough if i want to go to elite schools but im transfering to a new school that's well known for its competition and high API score .

Any advice ? I also have this problem with adhd so . . its pretty hard for me to focus on both hard classes (apush and aplang)

my extracurriculars so far ? :
volunteer 65 hours for this yearly program
^ ill be doing it for 2 more years
other volunteering .
published a poem and was semifinalist

and thats it .
i know my chances arent great and having big dreams is going to hurt me sometime when i cant achieve them but still, i really want to go to maybe UC's and cornell, cooper, etc .

i want to go somewhere in writing so if i focus on ap english or writing something like that, is that okay or is it better for me to take apush and challenge myself .?

i know this isn't entirely "what are my chances?" type of question, but it kind of is to me, at least *

My guess is no for Cornell with your sophomore year grades. Anyway take APUSH, one AP really is not enough for top schools and it still looks good if you had a good grade in the class and chose not to report your score. I would suggest three, but that is just me…

If you like history then you should take apush… taking an AP class looks good and can help your GPA.
But it really depends on you.

I’d say take APUSH. I got a 2 on euro sophomore year as well, but with not too much extra studying, I 5’ed APUSH. Let me know if you want any prep book recommendations, because those are key!

scores are just for placement; colleges really want to see that u did good in the class

Take the class, it’s better to have a rigorous schedule with a slightly lower GPA than to have a 4.0 in easy classes
Good luck!!
