To apply or not to apply?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to decide whther I should apply to any more schools or not.

So far, I have applied to MIT, BU, and UMD (college park). I was just accepted to MIT.

Everyone keeps saying "woo now you're done all your college apps!" But I don't know if I should be or not.

I am considering also applying to Yale, UPenn, and Columbia. The reason why is because I don't want to go to the campus preview weekend for MIT in April and be like "wow I actually hate this place" but it be my only option. I figure if I apply all those places and get into another, it will make me feel less forced in to a choice. And if I don't get into any more, it will be like it's meant to be!

So what I'm asking is, should I be done my apps? Or should I apply to more?

congratulations, awesome. that’s great news.

while you continue to work on this question, is it possible for you to get to MIT before preview weekend? You’ll see an MIT you won’t see on preview weekend. You’re wise to question whether you’re a fit for MIT. It is a particular kind of place, perhaps more than any other school. And MIT is an enormous commitment of personal resources. Make sure it’s for you. Obviously, the admissions officers think so, and that’s no small thing!

It would be hard because I live about 6 hours away lol. But I’m going to talk to my parents about trying to go up there sometime soon, maybe stay in Cambridge for the weekend or something. The biggest problem is that the apps are due in like 16 days so I have to decide asap

so what might you major in?

I say it doesn’t hurt to apply to other schools you think you could be happier at than MIT. Go for it!
