Do you remember what were your general ratings on teachers/secondary school report? Just curious: does it matter?

Are you even supposed to see those?

That's a breach of counselor/teacher-student confidentiality. Most colleges prefer that to be observed.

Yea that's what I've been saying, mzhang! Apparently a lot of people do see them. Tsk tsk.

That defeats the purpose of the whole waiver....

There is no waiver for the common app letters.

Yeah but there is a waiver on the princeton version of the teacher rec form. Either way, I don't think it's very appropriate for students to read their recs.

No, the point of the waiver is to keep you from demanding/suing Princeton for access to the records. The teacher himself has every right to show you the letter.

yeah like some teachers at my school are too lazy to send the recommendation letters off themselves... so instead, they just give them to us so that we can mail them off. we don't exactly have a choice on that.

My teachers even do not know how to write it... If I could not see it, they would write nothing. I regret that I did not tell it to Princeton :/. Since they were pretty good, mostly best in career. one 10%, several top few this year.

I'm glad that I didn't get to see mine. I think they're more honest if they don't have to show it to me and thus they can be more heartfelt. I guess it's ok if they choose to show you, but it bothers me that some people will try to get around it without the teacher's permission.
