I am current accepted as a freshman in a university with a decent business program. However, I realized that I don't really want to study business as my bachelor's degree. I would like something like engineering instead. In addition, I might want to transfer to higher tier schools as this school is actually on the bottom of my list.

The question is:
A. Should I first change from business to engineering in the school then transfer to another school's engineering program
or
B. Should I change directly from business to engineering program of another school?

Provided that the ranking/ reputation of the business school in the school I'm going to is much higher/ greater than engineering?

Thanks!

Engineering programs usually are comprised of many difficult courses that must be taken in a specific sequence. It is best to start out in Engineering, rather than to try to transfer into it from a different program. If you are determined that Engineering is the best fit for you, ask at your current institution whether you can change your major now so that you can start in Engineering in the fall. If that isn’t possible, you should withdraw your enrollment and take a gap year while you re-apply to a new list as an engineering major.

For most fields of engineering what matters is accreditation by [ABET -](http://www.abet.org/) Provided the program you enroll in has that accreditation, you should be fine.
