Hi Folks!!

I am a prospective graduate student for fall 2011.I am a biotechnology (major) from IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Guwahati. I applied to a number of programs this year and as of now could get into three of these. UCSD (Masters in Bioengineering), Cornell (M.engg Biomedical engg.) and UW-Madison (Phd in Chemical engineering). I did not apply to a masters in UCSD and Cornell, applied for a Phd-as for me funding was an issue (still it is). Though I wannna do a masters first and then think about a Phd but most of the masters programs in the US are not funded (for international students).Coming to interest, my interest lies in both Bioengineering and Chem engg but for me there is a financial constraint if I choose the programs at UCSD or cornell. Again I wanted to know If I choose to go to UCSD after taking a loan or something what are the chances of me being employed (considering that I am an international student ) coz I will need to work in order to pay back that loan. Again I have heard that chemical engg. provides a more lucrative career and offers more job prospects than any other engineering discipline.UCSD again is a big name in bioengineering (also I have an option of converting my masters into a Phd degree after 1 year of school in UCSD).As of now I think of going to UW-Madison. I would like your advice on the same.
