I have attended two colleges, one private out-of-state one and my current California Community College. By the end of spring 2009 I will have completed 52 units at my local CCC satisfying all areas of IGETC.

Since Assist.org only works for transferring within California public schools, I don't know if my out-of-state credits will all count towards the 60 unit minimum. At my former school, I have credit for: a 4 unit Polisci class, a 1 unit scuba diving course which is graded with the typical A-F scale, and a 1 unit freshman seminar course which is Pass/Fail.

I also have AP English Language credit, but I'm not sure if that counts as 3 or 4 units.
My worst fear is that the UC's will not give me credit for my two 1 unit courses and if AP's are only worth 3 units. That would mean I have 52+4+3 which is only 59.

*All the credits I referred to above are in semester units.

Thanks

No, not all units need to come from CCC. However as you are finding out, having units that come from other Colleges or Universities make it difficult to determine your unit count. The only thing I can add is to check the number of units from the AP exams by looking at the course catalog from the campus you are interested in. Don’t forget to convert semester units to quarter units or vice versa.

your poli sci and ap test should count for some credit. you want to contact the uc’s where you applied to see just how much credit you can get for those. remember that every college level course or ap test that you’ve taken up until this point, regardless of where it was taken must be reported in your application because it is eligible for transfer credit.

as far as the 1 unit class goes, you have to contact the uc’s to see if its uc-transferable. I’ll be honest though, the scuba diving class doesn’t sound transferable. best of luck.
