To current CPA's/wannabe CPA's...

I'm interested in majoring in business at Haas (i was recently admitted). Not sure if I want to be an accountant, but getting a CPA is pretty useful for any sort of finance-related position.

For current (Haas) students who are seeking or have earned a CPA: was there adequate space in your schedule to take the required number of accounting credits (around 24 i believe) for a CPA?

As a biz major, I'd be required to:

"Complete all of the core business courses and selected upper division elective courses for a total of at least 32 units"<<<*are these 32 units *including * the "core business courses"?
*

I'm also interested in majoring in BOTH Business and Economics, and while I understand both majors have similar pre-req's, they have quite different upper-div courses. Will I have space to take those accounting classes?

um…bump?

bump please!!! nobody?

I’m pretty interested in this. Are you saying that you are going to the accounting classes at Haas for your CPA? Because those count as your Haas upper division courses, so it’s definitely doable.

Edit: 32 units does include the core classes. Econ and Haas is also doable, but a rather heavy workload. Up to you.

i just got into haas and i also plan on getting my cpa.

take a look at this: http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/Undergrad/pdf/CPA_preparation.pdf</a>
and http://groups.haas.berkeley.edu/accounting/students/acctguide-%20Oct%202008.pdf</a></p>

Also, i did some research and for UC Berkeley college credit from AP tests count towards the 150 unit requirement to sit for the CPA.
