Is it better to declare a major or go undecided? Does NYU admission take intended major into the application process?

If so, what are the most popular majors for CAS?

good question, I have wondered about this for awhile, any input??

It doesn't matter.

Even if you declare now, you can change it later. Many, many do.

thanks vercingetorix

so putting down a popular major for CAS won't hurt you and putting down an obscure major for CAS won't help you when applying..

Right. As it says, "not admitted by major". :)

you might as well put down an obscure major, cant hurt

ya i agree, it may help, obscure major, cant hurt

You should put the major which you intend to study. If you're not sure, put undecided. Messing around with indicating an obscure major is stupid and won't help you.

i am putting the major that i want to study.. i was just wondering if it would have any affect on my admissions decision.

word on the streets says it doesn't.

What others have said is correct. For CAS and Stern applicants, it won't matter what major you put down, you can always change it anyway--you're applying to the school not to a major. Tisch and Steinhardt however are a different story, in these schools you apply to a particular program, so what you put down does indeed have an impact.

so what is the major?
