To-do list for campus visit?

Daughter and I are headed to Tuscaloosa soon (day trip) since she’s got appointments with the Honors College and the business college. She’s scheduled for Express Orientation in July, and wanted to get some questions answered and meet some people beforehand when it’s a little less hectic.

Any advice for other errands/tasks we can take care of while she’s there?

turn in her immunization forms

set up her PO box

“walk” her projected schedule to see if you have enough time between classes to get where you need to go. And to give her an idea of where her classes are. This is especially beneficial to kids who have only been on campus once or twice and don’t really know the campus that well. Sometimes things don’t look the same when there are thousands of other students walking around and it’s easy to get “lost”.

Eat a McDonald burger at Mugshots

“Eat a McDonald burger at Mugshots”.

lol…son had one of those the other night. It was very good. The buns at Mugshots are amazing.

I LOVE the Howards Hillbilly Philly. If you don’t want fries, you can sub a small salad.

If you’re going to open an Alabama Credit Union acct, do so.

Why set up a po box? Shouldn’t the dorm have mailboxes?

^^^Whether or not they should, they don’t. You need to get a P.O. box to receive mail.

*Why set up a po box? Shouldn’t the dorm have mailboxes?
*

No. There isn’t mail delivery to each dorm. Frankly, most kids don’t get mail delivered to them.

If your child will be getting mail (letters) delivered to them, then they need a PO box set up in The Ferg building.

The occasional pkg can be sent to Paty with the child’s info on it and the child picks it up there. (see the link below)

Your child will receive a text when a pkg comes in.

Just an update: we had a great visit!

Rented a mailbox for 6 months (USPS doesn’t know what will happen to that station after that), got her Action Card made, checked out the Presidential Village construction, had 2 meetings, studied the Crimson Ride routes (they graciously took us on a special loop by the construction when we said we were headed that way just out of curiosity), located some buildings that have a lot of freshman classes and ate the $5 lunch special at Little Italy.

I’m glad you enjoyed your visit.:)

Glad to hear!!!
