So recently I have been thinking about dropping AP calculus AB. I’m a senior in high school and got accepted to some universities. I reason I want to drop this course is that this teacher kind of abuse me such as throwing markers at me and yelling at me because I’m not that smart compare to the rest of the class. I also have been getting so much stress because of him. I got B last semester and getting a D+ right now. I know that D or below affect your college admission so should I just drop the course. I know dropping the course will also affect your decision but idk what to do. Should I try hard and bring it up to an C or should I drop out? I can’t handle the stress sometimes so I mostly cry after that class. What should I do?
I don’t think your GPA should take the hit. If you still meet all graduation requirements I’d go ahead and drop the class. You’ll have to make up for that hiccup in other areas but with determination I think it can be done. Best of luck!
You would need to contact every school you have applied to and have been accepted at that you dropped calculus. Any school you have been accepted at would reserve the right to review your acceptance again. That said, you don’t want to get a D on your transcript either.
Before you drop the class talk to your guidance counselor. Then contact schools you have applied to/were accepted at to see if they would be OK with the decision to drop the class. Do not refer to your comments above about the teacher when contacting colleges as you will come off as a complainer.
But I know who goes to carnegie mellon but he dropped physics and didn’t got withdraw on their transcript. Our school doesn’t put withdraw on the transcript. So he says that it’s ok to drop. So should i drop?
Ask the schools before you do it, like happy1 said. Wouldn’t it be 10x worse to lose any acceptances you already have?
It doesn’t matter that there is no W. What matters is that you put on your application that you were taking a course and then AP Calc won’t show up on your final transcript. Colleges will know you dropped the class. I stand by my comments above.
