To drop or not to drop?

Hi,
I am in a dilemma right now.
currently a junior taking 5 classes, 4 engineerings classes and one 400level math and it has been pretty tough.

And there is one class has just gone too crazy. I not only scored very poorly on the first midterm and homeworks seem impossible now. I feel like if I am to continue taking that class, I probably wouldn't end up with a decent grade not to mention I will not have enough time for other ones.
However, if I am to drop the class I will end up with a "W."

What would you do and how bad is a "W" on my transcript when applying for grad school?

Thanks.

What are your classes?

Will it effect when you can graduate? If not I'd probably drop it.

Thanks for the inputs:
EE364: Prob and Statistics for EE
EE301 Signals and System (This is the one I gonna drop)
EE338 Intro class about semiconductor
Math445 Advanced Math of Scientists and Engineergs II (Fourier stuff)
CE205 Statics (Technical elective)

Dropping this class won't affact my graduation. I am now still 3 classes ahead in schedule.

Thanks again!

Well, if you are doing a withdrawal with a W, wait until last possible deadline see if your perception changes.

One or a couple of W's will not be a huge deal in terms of grad school. But do see if you actually are in fact doing poorly. Sometimes hard courses can end up just fine with a curve or the like.

Talk to the professor first.

you should talk to the 301 prof, and try and get a picture for how your grade is.

I can believe you certainly, i'm taking math445 too and apparently both sections (haydn + dumett) are a lot of work.

I suppose you can talk to jaime also and see what he has to say.

I don't think ee301 is a prereq to anything required...unless your area of specialization requires ee401...
