So basically I just found out that the early decision applicant pool is much more competitive than regular. For someone who is a borderline applicant like myself would it be wiser to apply early or just wait till regular decisions where it isn't as competitive?

I think your odds look pretty good either way.

Personally, I think too much is made of trying to game “ED”, for and against.

On a non-game basis: If Emory is your clear first choice, I would tell them so and back it up by going ED. If you are not so convinced, I would not apply ED.

I agree with chazsf. If you are positive that Emory is your first choice then definitely ED. Last year about half of the freshman class was admitted ED! Emory clearly wants a class that wants them. If you are not sure that Emory is the place for you, then delay your decision making and do RD. Your stats are within Emory’s range for either, though your odds of acceptance are better ED.

i will also be applying soon. Debating whether to do ED or RD as well…
i know the ED1 acceptance rate is nearing around 40%

also, i believe ED2 is the more competitive applicant pool because that’s where a lot of kids who get rejected from ED1 from ivies and other top tier schools apply to.

i believe you have a good shot at both ED/RD but if you are sure Emory is it…do ED

I would but I think my school is already nominating two other people because I told them I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it. Kinda regretting that now… do I still have a good shot for ED though?
