Is it advantageous for international students requiring financial aid to apply at need-sensitive colleges for the ED round? Or do colleges prefer to leave them to the RD round so any benefits of ED is nullified?

I applied for financial aid, and both of my ED applications were deferred to the regular pool. The more limited the college’s financial resources are, the more hesitant they will be to spend that money in the ED round.

To add to my previous post, some colleges don’t even let international financial aid applicants apply ED.

If you have a good reason why you want to attend a specific college and no other one, by all means go ahead and apply ED. But don’t apply ED expecting it to help your chances. I think financial aid applicants are better off applying in the regular round because that leaves the option to compare financial aid offers.

But if you are a strong candidate and your dream school is a top one, DO APPLY ED. Top colleges are often rich enough to accept whoever they like.
