I have several questions:
What was the precise date when you got the letter to notify you a semi-finalist?
After you were a semi-finalist, what did you do next to get into final?
If you were not selected as a semi, would they notify you at the same time?

i think i remember this correctly. you will get your notification of semi final status in late january. if you make it to the semis then you are in. if you do not get to the semi final round, you will learn your decision with everyone else in the regular decision round.

I think we need to clarify how you are defining "next week". Do you mean this week (we'll call it the week of Monday the 8th for clarification purposes) or do you mean next week (the week of Monday the 15th)?

I called Emory twice in the past two days. When I asked the question that when Emory is going to send out the result for the Emory scholar semi, I was told by a lady it is the 15th the first time; but the second time was the end of this month by a different lady. I am confused. Anyone has any ideas?

Today I came home to a bizarre voicemail on my answering machine. It was a message from Emory, clearly prerecorded, reminding me to look into some of their new financial aid information. Did any of you get this?

Were financial aid applications due Nov. 1st for scholars? If so, that may mean we were tossed into the regular pool with the Feb 15th deadline...

They modified their website to say that "info regarding email notification of decisions will be emailed oto the students the evening of January 16)

For the record, I was notified last year mid January of semi-finalist status. Acceptance letter at the same time. Got finalist letter like a month later maybe? You don't do anything in between these steps. Finalist guarantees you money of some kind. I didn't even go to finalist weekend (I already had a sweeter offer somewhere else that I had no intention of turning down), but Emory still offered me 20k/yr. I think I was a "John Emory Scholar."
