... to get into an ivy? PS, I am not another one of those classic CC kids.

SAT: 2250, 1500
SAT 2: 800 math 2, 730 us history, 760 physics
Freshman GPA: 3.1
Sophomore GPA: 3.6
Junior GPA: 4.0
^^^took the hardest classes possible for everything

The reason for my low grades is because I spend 75% of my time running my startup, that now we are discussing the possibility of going public through a reverse merger to gain capital. My views are currently way too biased because I have a stupid thought in my head that running a public company will get me into an Ivy league school. Is this that stupid, or do I really have a chance?

Doesn’t hurt to put a few (carefully selected) top schools on the reach part of your list. You sound interesting and may stand out.

it depends on how notable your company is, etc. It is definitely possible but not necessarily likely, given the little info you have provided. But they do want unique applicants (note, companies are infrequent, but not “unique”. Perhaps your specific incidence of the company, with its circumstances, is unique, but you will need to express that).

Frankly, Ivy quality students would understand they need to get a certain GPA to be competitive.

Your GPA is going to kill you. What is your class rank? Are you within at least the top 25% of your class? If not, then Ivies are out of your league. More realistically, you want to be in the top 10% of your class. Having a killer essay, EC’s, and good recs will help you at any school.

Make sure to really talk up your start-up in your essays. Depending on what your start-up is, you could have a pretty good chance. Most colleges are looking for students who bring something to the college which they don’t already have, so a start up would certainly grab their attention.

@123bcc I’m probably about 50%. With a 4.0 GPA Junoir and Senor year, do I still have no shot?

You know, it’s no use asking people on a forum what your shots are. But statistically you don’t stand a chance because of your GPA. Why should you go to an ivy over someone else who busted their schedule studying since freshman year? But if you don’t want to feel unfulfilled, apply anyways. No one can say if you have a chance or not.

It’ll help for Babson and Bentley, plus Northeastern.
Your grades are likely too low for an Ivy but if it makes you happy, apply anyway, once you’re done with the others.
