To get into Stanford...

colingray, you are going to be my hero from now on :P

yea even if what asian75 and others say is true u might as well apply. There’s no way u can get in if u dont apply and at least u will know! i know its cliche but its true!

@collingray: haha, nice, same total score  (what did I say about how the admission officers feel the light shining from the page because the score holds the essence of this year?)

my math score is only 720, though…

@ colingray: Humans made mistakes and we are humans. Is your name Colin Gray? I am going to go through the file again to make sure. Thanks. Please remember that your offer for admission is not final

lol@ ^ post

My brother-in-law works at Stanford and he knows someone in admissions. She told him that it was NOT all about the perfect GPA or test scores. Not to discount that in any way. They certainly can’t hurt! But, she made a point of telling him that Stanford looks for so much more than someone with all the “right numbers”. But then, we already knew that.

Asian75 is someone who craves attention by making ridiculous statements about Stanford. What really baffles me is why young people read the CC discussion board. You see 1,000 posts that are the exact opposite of Asian75’s ranting, yet some of you want to dismiss those 1,000 posts and believe a few irrational posts by Asian75. I don’t get it… And Asian75 does not and has not worked for Stanford admissions.

Asian75 says, “@ colingray: Humans made mistakes and we are humans. Is your name Colin Gray? I am going to go through the file again to make sure. Thanks. Please remember that your offer for admission is not final.”

How can anybody fall for this kind of nonsense. If anyone is so naive to believe this, you should not read CC. Asian75 is just looking for a little attention and this is where he can get it. He is the Walter Mitty of CC.

Those who believe Asian75’s pessimistic comments on Stanford admissions (about not being accepted) are unworthy of being accepted as they fail to use common sense: Asian75 doesn’t call the shots at admissions and even if he did, there are plenty of cases that bolster the counterargument

^^aha walter mitty… I read a short story about him in middle school

seriously, why would anybody blindly believe asian75’s posts is beyond me. it’s the INTERNET folks.

LOL. You don’t have to believe me if you don’t want to. I just contribute my knowledge to the forum

Ugh, whatever… by now I’m just going to apply and see what happens. Whatever happens happens and if I don’t get it, too bad, if I do, great, SOMEONE’s been planting some worries in my mind for some odd reason.

OH WELL.

I can’t help but burst of laughing at half of asian75’s posts since there is no way that they are true. I thought that it was understood that they were simply false, but it is worrisome to see how many people believe him.

Granted, I can see where some of your concern is coming from, it is easy for me to laugh at them because I am sitting in a Stanford dorm room right now. Just stop looking at this forum until May 1st, seriously, enjoy your senior year.

While I can’t say whether Asian is telling the truth or not, one of these things have to be true:

1.) Asian is a c0cksucking, attention-seeking, BS spewing ■■■■■!

2.) Stanford is not the institution I thought it was (a University that claims to holistically review applicants, but secretly utilizes cut offs is no better than my state school across the street).

One of those… I really wish it’s not the latter one.

even though Stanford claims to hollisticaly applicants, cut-offs have to be there in order to ensure they don’t take ppl who can’t excel academically.

So how did all those average joes out there got into Stanford? This is nonsense D:

I bet there’s a cutoff for cumulative GPA’s of 2.0 and SAT scores below 1300 (for all 3 sections) or something, but I highly doubt there’s a cutoff for SAT scores of, say, 2000. As long as you can survive academically, I don’t see any reason they would discard your application.

I really hope that is the case… I have an okay GPA (3.9 ish) and 2100 on SAT I…
