Hi guys!

I posted this in another thread and realized it'd be helpful for big chunk of us and thus decided to create a whole new thread for it.

This applies to AP Social Studies Classes!

U.S. Government

Comparative Government

American Hist.

World Hist.

Micro Econ.

Macro Econ.

Euro Hist.

This is a proven fact that for some reason, only I seem to have discovered it: (Chances are more people have but haven't said anything because like me, they thought everyone else figured out already)

In any Social Studies Course AP Course, buy Princeton Review. PR has such awesome answers to the practice tests, that if you only read these, you are practically guaranteed a 5 on the exam.

Why?
Because Princeton Review's answer explain why the answer is what it is and why every other answer choice is wrong. It behaves like a fast comprehensive review. =)

It doesn't apply very well to any science class because science questions need a bit more explanantion and cannot simply be memorized like most of the material covered in AP Social Studies Courses.

Hmm, I'll definitely try this for next year. See if I can learn the course on the basis of answers ;p

MetdethGNR obviously works for Princeton Review. ;)

lol, even so
its true
PR helps bunches.
:D

Actually I prefer Barrons...but it is more drawn out than PR I have to admit

I would also definitely recommend AMSCO for APUSH, and I would recommend kids taking the class next year buy it now and read it over the summer... It's one of the best prep books I've ever read.

I completely agree with the OP. I used a Princeton Review book for AP World; it is so well written (and funny in some parts) that I actually WANTED to read it. PR has everything you need to know for the exam and nothing else. The problem with Barrons is that they have so much useless information that you will never need on the exam.

PR, I believe, is the richest company from those who sell workbooks (ie, Barron's, 5 steps to a 5, etc). THus, PR has the time and resource to make comprehensive yet concise textbooks

Paradoxically, most of my textbooks are barron's, since they overprepare me (thus, they are good if you're dilligent, but suck if you're trying to cram)

I haven't used review books for my APs. I'd just recommend getting the textbook and listening to your teacher. It's the easiest way. Yeah. =]

PR rocks my socks off. Without it, I wouldn't have been half as prepared as I was for the world history exam. Like cosine45 said, it really was quite informative and even interesting! And the answers to the MC and suggested answers for FRQ were top notch.

PR or Barrons for World is a good decision.
DEFINITELY the best book for Comp Gov is Ethel Woods.
Lots of ppl say AMSCO for APUSH.

The rest of them are probably PR.

PR helped a ton with WH. Of course, the night before the test, I was more concerned with its brevity than its wit, lol.
