During AP week I was very sick! As a result, I earned a 1 in AP US History and a 3 in AP Biology. I was planning to show the college in which I am applying to the score of a 3 but planning to hide the 1. However, I am having second thoughts about hiding the 1. I am now thinking that I should show the 1 and explain why I did so poorly on this exam. What should I do? Hide it or not?

hide it even if it's a good excuse no one likes listening to excuses.

Wait, we don't have to send our AP score sheet to the colleges?

You do not have to send your AP scores unless you are looking to get credit for the course after you have matriculated. When you release yoru scores you essentially release all of your scores or you pay a lot of $ to pick and choose at this time I would nto worry about sending my scores.

Just wait until you have been admitted because depending on where you end up, the more selective schools are not even going to give you credit or placement with a score under 4

I know that people do notl ike excuses but I heard taht it is refreshing to adcoms for students to take responsibilty for their shortcomings rather than hiding them!! What to do?! Please HELP!

Do not submit your AP scores at this time. for example The school seeing that you got a 1 on the AP exam an A in the course will lead the school to beleive that you had a watered down course that does nto cover the depth and breadth of a colelge course and will eventually undermind your efforts. If you put your scores out there you will be evaluated on them.

I think that you should hide it, because I don't think that colleges would like to hear excuses for it.

You may want to inquire about whether your school's transcript has AP scores on it (our kids' HS does). If the transcript has the AP scores, you will need to speak with GC & registrar about how to keep the AP scores off if that's your preference. Your GC sould be able to give you further guidance.
Personally, I'd advise our son to keep his scores off if he had any scores below a 4 on AP exam. He got 5s, even tho he didn't get As in several of his APs (physics was VERY challenging & he got a B). He got a 4 on one of the APs he got an A in.

my d did not send her AP scores to any colleges, even though she got some 5's. None of the colleges required it for admission. I have never heard of that.
