I'm applying ED...it says interviews are optional and that not having an interview doesn't affect chances. is this true? interview or no interview? Is it important?

an interview can never hurt you it can only help.... its not as important as many people think but seeing that your applying ED which means your in love w/ duke i wouldnt let the opportunity slide. i also wanna apply ed to duke

i'd interview if you have the option.
i really loved meeting with my duke interviewer (and many of my other interviewers) because i loved hearing his anecdotes about the duke experience. we had so much to talk about -- and duke wasn't even my ED school.

I went to an interview for Harvard, Dartmouth, and Wash U. Duke never contacted me about one even though I turned in all my information before november 31st. I got rejected at Harvard and Dartmouth and waitlisted at Wash. I guess I'm just not an "interview type of guy"? seriously though, I felt like the interviews were pretty much a way of getting to ask questions, even though you can basically find out anything you could imagine about any school just by using this thing called the Internet.

Just curious, but to you people thinking about applying ED to Duke: what are your SAT/ACT scores?

right-- i found out statistics and everything i needed to know about my schools academically via the internet... but the reason why i found my interviews so valuable, was, as i've said, i liked hearing people's personal anecdotes about the schools-- why they love them so much. because that's something you can't really learn on the internet. my duke interviewer was awesome-- after i told him i got in, he brought me out for ice cream to celebrate.

College interviews are good!!! Do them!!!

I just had a really good interview at UChicago that definitely changed my mind about interviews. I did an interview with someone in the admissions office during my visit. I thought it would just be me asking questions but instead my interviewer asked me tons of weird/crazy questions and really got to know me. It turned out so well that he said I was a "stellar candidate" and had me meet my regional representative (the 1st person who will read my app). So...that definitely increased my chances of getting in. They really liked me and I got a lot of info about how I can improve my app (he asked for my stats and told me what was good and what needed to be highlighted on the app). So the moral of the story is GET AN INTERVIEW. Don't listen to people who say interviews are nothing. If possible, when you schedule a college visit, schedule an interview at the same time. It's worth it! And you don't have to dress up...I wore jeans and so did all the other kids.
