I am a bit curious about this issue... I wanted to know the opinions of ND students... which colleges do you all consider to be ND's peers (academically, reputation wise etc.) Disregarding rankings and such, what are all fo your opinions? Do you consider some Ivies peers? Top Southern Schools? Thanks

Definitely Georgetown. Boston College just because it’s “Catholic.” Maybe Washington University. Have never heard a comparison to Rice. I have heard Notre Dame compared to Stanford, Cornell, Northwestern, Michigan, University of Chicago, etc.

University of Southern California, Santa Clara University, Princeton, Michigan.

After graduation, the network of Notre Dame alums spans the entire globe, and rivals that of the best in the US and the world - Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Oxford, Cambridge, etc.

The most obvious one is Georgetown, but I would agree that Boston College is another step below us, but I don’t think we are quite as high as Stanford and Duke, though we are close.

We are often compared to Stanford and Duke in terms of quality of academics and athletics. Both are similar to Notre Dame in that they have excellent academic programs but still have excellent athletics programs.

Purely academics wise, many of my classmates also applied to schools like Duke, Stanford and the Ivies but chose Notre Dame because of its Catholic nature and traditions.
