To Novice CC Users Like Myself: What not to do on CC.

The “Most Annoying CC Posts” thread has recently erupted, and I want to condense some advice for novice CC users like myself to avoid looking like a completely pompous potato.

Seniors! Moderators! I summon you to add a concise piece of advice to this list. It can be sassy, but try and keep a tone that a counselor would use to a freshman.

If you want to add to the list, simply copy and paste the previously posted list and add your advice on a new line.

If you want to add a new main topic to the list (topics will be used as headers to help separate advice), simply copy and paste the last list and add a new advice topic while keeping the format like so (do not include anything written in /THESE/ ) :

Posting on CC/main topic/:

/This is but a shell to encourage CCers with experience to add advice/

Guiding question, “If you could tell a first-time CC user anything, what would it be?”

Everyone can read your posting history. We are not invading your privacy when we point out discrepancies in your profile.

-Linking to someone else’s thread in another thread’s comments in order to make fun it is rude.
-Linking to your own thread in another person’s thread is hijacking; don’t do it (Sorry I’m guilty).

I think what you shouldn’t do this is something like this actual post. Invite CC posters to add something, but insist upon some awkward format : /* This is too annoying so few will respond*/ etc.

@CheddarcheeseMN How do I get someone to trash this thread? I agree that my format was rather off-putting.

This thread is so ironic #-o
