To NYU from SC

Hey,

I'm currently a freshman at University of South Carolina (go *****!). NYU has always been a favorite school of mine, but I did not apply there because of personal reasons last year. I am however, interested in transferring into NYU, and more specifically the Tisch Department of Recorded Music.
I am in the Honors Program here at USC, and although I like it here, I worry the major they offer that is similar to Recordes Music doesn't quite cut it. Plus the oppurtunities at NYU and in NYC in general are much greater.
I am pulling a 3.7 GPA right now, with a 1400 (2010) SAT score. Does anyone think I can make it into their Recorded Music major, and into NYU in general? (what are my chances)
thanks,
Plexig

Your GPA is great, but Tisch will also look at a few other factors:
Your HS GPA and ECs, because you have less than two years of coursework to consider.
Your portfolio, which is the MOST IMPORTANT part of your application. [UG Rec Music Portfolio: Tisch School of the Arts at NYU](http://clivedavisdept.tisch.nyu.edu/object/ugrmusicportfolio.html)
Your supplements and essays.

It is harder to supply ‘chances’ for artistic programs, to be honest. I would still apply anyway. Good luck!
