To Out-of-Staters

What were your stats when you were accepted out of state?

31 ACT/1460 SAT/3.7 UW GPA.. with 4 AP's senior year/almost NO EC's/volunteer work unimpressive

Balance it out one way or another.

D.'s stats were not impressive either: 24 ACT, 3.5 semi-weighted (only for 2 years they counted anything as weighted), no AP's. Very involved in school: 4 year cheerleader (3 years as capt or co capt.), class officer, show choir, dance team, a few other committees and organizations. Had community & school volunteer...summer camp counselor for special needs children, special olympics and dance teacher volunteer and active in community theatre. Serious dance student for 11 years was the focus of her application and wrote a remarkable essay about her love for dance...read by an admissions counselor from another college for an opinion and was told it was an essay they would remember. It's not all about the stats...they tell prospective students they want your grades to be good BUT they also want a well rounded student body. How boring it would be if they only let applicants in with all the same stats? She was waitlisted for fall, but admitted in spring 05 with these stats. She did get off the fall waitlist and was admitted but didn't hear until May 20th... or some where around that date. Good Luck!
