don’t cheat, ppl! I saw this post from Ghetto Wizard saying that we stole the code from him…

@Striff

Aww I wear VS and I know Im not that unfortunate looking–then again maybe thats why I dont do too well in my cs classes, and no one takes me seriously when Im in them, lmao

i go to ucsc and im not being biased. if you are saying that ucsc is cheating, then you guys are cheating too. that i remember of because i vote everyday… we were number 1 and u guys werent even on the list. at that time… ucsc was around in the 100,000 votes and u guys barely had 30,000 (not even)and werent even on the top 25 … then u guys jumped up to the 100,000 votes and became 2nd place the next day. so your telling me that UCSD didnt cheat and you guys fairly voted over 100,000. then the next day u guys were 3,000 or 4,000 votes near us. later that night i voted and noticed ucsc got over 100,000 votes compared to guys. so yea… i think we are cheating. BUT STOP COMPLAINING. because IT SEEMS LIKE U GUYS ARE CHEATING TOOO. i vote everyday and i noticed within a day how much you guys increased . just right now i checked within the past 5 min. ucsc was at 232, 161 votes then at 232, 197… u guys were at 163, 163 then now u guys are at 164, 964 votes. thats pretty fast within 5 minutes.

f.y.i …stop saying ucsc is a bunch of hippies . CAUSE IF U WENT TO THE CAMPUS. there isnt much hippies around and dont ****n tell me that san diego DOESNT HAVE 1 hippie there. and ucsc isnt all dumb people ok? there are hella smart people there. just because u go to ucsd doesnt make u smart. i know some people who go to ucsd and they were at a low rank in my high school. my main point is. doesnt matter what school you go to and that doesnt determine how smart you are. it DEPENDS ON THE PERSON.

so stop stereotyping.

@ keytoyourheart

good post =)

Rage much? Politicians should be like you and preface their statements with “I’m a Democrat/Republican, but I’m not biased!”

There are cheaters everywhere. UCSD was clearly using the Something-Awful program when we were going up 5-10 per second. UCSC votes (most likely forum members rather than actual UCSC students) were growing far faster than that the past couple of days after we rubbed their nerd-egos the wrong way.

This is not a competition we need to win to join the Pink line, seeing as how the Class of 2009 includes 24 schools. If all VS wanted to do was create buzz, they’ve done more than enough of that here at UCSD. So to everyone out there using an old version of his program, just vote fairly, because its better to be 2nd place legitimately than to get disqualified.

Besides, the competition ends December 2nd. I’m sure UCSD students have better things to do than vote all day. Apparently, Something-Awful has unemployed fools with nothing better to do than vote for someone else’s school.

^^ well its not rage. i think its stupid how u guys can just stereotype people like that. if i was being biased i would of said that ucsc ISNT cheating and UCSD are cheating. i clearly stated that i noticed BOTH schools were cheating and that UCSD shouldnt state they arent cheating.

and i do agree with you. i think VS is going to choose like the top 25 schools again like they did for class of 2009. and lets stop using cheats and vote fairly.

^Dont tell us not to cheat (us as in the people on this thread and College Confidential), rather, tell the people on Something-Awful. Most everyone here is anti-cheating for this competition

its ironic that someone who’s trying to criticize the quality of the education at UCSC can’t even understand simple grammar.

who’s = “who is that”
whose = “whose degree is more valuable”

btw, I don’t attend either school

I love how someone is coming in to comment on a mistake that everyone, including her, makes when they type.

where? haha i checked and i couldn’t find it
unless you mean “its”

in which case, wow, that’s petty

I bet you like $100000000000000000000 dollars that in the end they will print the top 5 or something schools…making this whole thing a moot point.

ALSO just want to point out that even if we do get 2nd place and Victoria’s Secret decides to print the top 24 schools again… they still have to get UCSD to agree to it! I’m sure they have to talk to the UC people and get permission to use our logo, etc. And who knowwwwws if they’ll agree. This is just too far away for me to get excited about it yet.

Also. There are TONS of hippies in santa cruz. Is that a joke?! You guys have a huge celebration on 4/20! I visited and swore I would never go back!

lol come out from under that rock… smoking weed does not automatically make someone a hippie

wat r u talking bout?

She’s nitpicking at Striff’s post on the first page (the second to last one down).

1.) I agree. It’s really stupid, petty, and snooby to attack UCSC for being full of hippies and stupid people. I’m sure all of you have at least one friend that goes to UCSC. Tell them that they’re stupid. I’m sure that’ll go over well with them.

2.) Unfortunately, your post made me want to rip my eyes out.

i agree with experiment8. smoking week doesn’t make you a hippi. that’s funny … a lot of sororities and frat. smoke weed and I’M PRETTY SURE they aren’t hippies. and yes i think in the end VS will choose top 10 or so schools. so this competition is pointless. instead of UCSD vs UCSC . it should be more like “lets have all the UCs in the top 25” … like the UC pride?

Vote manually many times or use a program. The only difference I see is that the smarter program is using the program to do less.

VS shouldn’t have even needed a contest to decide what school will be featured on their underwear. Banana slugs are ****ing awesome.

Can we stop the incredible generalizations here.

I go to UCSC and no, the school is not full of hippes. No, not everyone smokes weed. No, the school is not full of ■■■■■■■. I can tell you that many of the students who attend UCSC are smarter than those bashing the school in this stupid thread.

I am positive that there are cheaters from both UCSC and UCSD in this competition, yet the UCSD students are acting like their numbers are legit. Not one, but multiple threads have been created to bash a fellow University of California campus over which school’s mascot will be on the next line of Victoria’s Secret panties. Am I the only one who thinks this is rather silly? Let alone the fact that Victoria’s Secret will likely just choose the schools they feel will be the most marketable, not necessarily the top 25 schools on their list according to votes.

All and all, lets not bash a school with no factual basis because it makes you feel good. I used to think UCSD was a school full of nothing but whizzes and nerds until I took a couple of classes there. Boy was I wrong, or at least the sweeping generalization was not correct. In fact, the students in the classes were about as capable as my classmates from UCSC. My insider view is that UCSC’s students are not potheads, but smart striving young men and women and UCSD’s students are not crazy elite nerds, but smart striving young men and women.

You need to live the life of a student at these campuses before you can decide whether or not the stereotypes are true or not.
