I took the math IIC as a freshman last year and got a 770, although I expected to get an 800. Should I re-take it in the fall? (I want to major in sciences, and I want to go to a top school)

If you really want to spend the money and sit through the test, why not?

30 pts. isn't a big deal, honestly.

ya, retake it ya

these are the kind of threads that make me question why i come to these forums in the first place...

no. your score is good for any school you could possibly want, be it harvard or some other. but if you feel like wasting more money to the empty void that is also known as collegeboard, then whatever floats your boat :)

It's good. Colleges will regard your score as let's say, for example the status "cleared." Once they see this amazing score, and it is :), they'll just move on to your ECs, GPA, or whatever comes next. Don't waste time and money.

Don't waste your Saturday. 770 is farking great.

I'd say retake it, but that's just me. If you know you can get 800, then why not?

You might get a lower score
Be happy with great score you have--30 points is no big deal

I gotta take physics in october anyway, that's the only reason why I was wondering, since I'm wasting my money as it is lol. And no I don't think I would get lower on a second testing because I'm not exactly a weak math student.

Ahh forget it. I just feel shutout from the 800 club, but hopefully I can get that with physics and us history. I'm not taking it again.

i wish you luck.

yes, thats the spirit! Dont throw away $8 and an hour of your time to ETS!

you'r a freshmen so you still have LOTS of time to retake SAT!!!
yeah~ do it sometimes 30 pts of difference may determine whether you are admitted or not...
good luck!

i seriously doubt 30 pts. can hurt you much, if any.

no pikaso, I WAS a freshman when I took the test. I'm a rising junior now.

oh sorry!! I didn't mean to offend if I did...
then considering that, I guess you don't reall need to retake~
good luck! ;)

Oh no offense taken, but that would be nice if I was a freshman right now with a 770 taken in 7th grade :)

The only reason this question even came up was primarily because of the fact that after taking AP Calc, am I a better math student now than before, and this could ahve been a gauge for that. I guess the difference is negligible.

Well, calc really isn't necessary for the IIC, but if you're a better math student in general then yeah. If you're shooting for like MIT you should get that 800. Otherwise, you should be okay.
