well, it is on my prospective list...guess I'm taking the test again lol.

Do you know what the 770 percentile is? I know my 800 (with a TI 83+) was only 88 percent you might want to consider retaking if your percentile is in the 70s. Otherwise, it is a good score.

It was 81 on the official report, but this year it's 79.

same here... 800 but a 88% percentile.
do you know if they emphasize on the percentile?

yeah i had that dilemma too. i got a 770...at first i wasnt going to re-take, but this other person who...um, well, wasnt as smart got 790 so then my competitiveness came in and i retook and got 800
its really up to you

Remember people on this site make it seem like its IMPOSSIBLE to get to an IVY leage or equivalent school without 800s on subject tests.

not impossible, but I want to apply for RSI next year. 75 kids all across the world = not much room. Besides, a 770 confirms a benefit of a generous curve, whereas no one can dispute the 800.

haha I know how you feel, or at least how the harvard student at my school felt when I outscored her by 10 points lol. (Except she never re-took the test)

My take:

Prepare yourself such that you can score 800, then score 800. You're already a good math student so you should be able to get this 800 pretty easily. No matter which way you cut it, it is fairly impressive to have an 800 or two on your app.

BTW, knowing calc can make some SAT II problems easier/faster.

yeah perplex, I'm armed with a fully programmed ti-89, along with algebra and calculus functions I used to not know or do on paper, and I've been finishing practice tests in 30 minutes flat because of it lol...hopefully things continue like this.

hey 770 is great...but one thing i wanna ask...do colleges look at the better/best score if you take the same SAT II tests for multiple times?

No one is denying that a 770 is great. However, an 800 is still the best possible score so if you can make the 800 on IIC easily... why not? I don't see how it could hurt, and it certainly could help.
