I worked in my school's office over the summer a little bit and didn't make enough to be required to file taxes. I mentioned how I worked for my school in an essay and even list the job on the CommonApp.

I am guessing I still have to report it on my Non-tax filer's statement for PROFILE, eh?

You should report it. Why is it such a hassle? You have to submit the Non-Filer's statement anyway. Just write another line about your salary, and clip on the W-2.

Think what a hassle it would be to have to explain to the admissions and financial aid offices the discrepancy between your essay/app detailing the job and the FA forms claiming no income. Sometimes it takes a little hassle to avoid a huge hassle.

^^ I have a similar question. I worked a job but received less than the legal reporting limit, meaning I don't HAVE a W-2. However, the job was on my apps. Is it ok if I don't report it on IDOC/etc, seeing as I didn't actually get a W-2?

^^ Asks for income along with supporting documents. But I don't even have a W-2 for the money I made, as it was less than the legal limit, so I don't have supporting documentation. As in, my EMPLOYER isn't reporting it to the government. So, I guess, is it asking for legal income, i.e. that is reported to the government, or just ANY income? (If you babysat, for example, and the parents paid you, would you have to report THAT? Somehow I sincerely doubt it, unless I completely misunderstand the types of things you have to report.)

^^ Any income, documentable or not. Babysitting, lawn mowing, lottery winnings, etc. "Income" is an all-inclusive term. It is not necessary to support all the income you report with documents.
