To Retake or Not to Retake; Or, Why I hate the New SAT

So I took the Jan 28 SAT and recieved the following:

710 - Reading (yay!)
740 - Math (YES!)
540 - Writing ($E^$%&U)

-- 6/12 on essay (not a suprise, I knew i'd do poorly)

1990 = total

So basically I'm dealing with an interesting predicament.

I think it would be good to retake it and get a higher writing score with a better essay, but I'm scared I'll end up doing worse on reading/math.

Is it worth taking the SAT again? If a college sees a second SAT with slightly lower reading/math but much higher writing will they think low of it (in your opinion)?

Thank You!
Zach

"Is it worth taking the SAT again?"

Retake it. Writing is not difficult to improve on.

"If a college sees a second SAT with slightly lower reading/math but much higher writing will they think low of it (in your opinion)?"

Colleges just take the highest scores on each sections. Therefore, they will not think low of lower reading/math and higher writing.

"Thank You!"

No problem. :p

"Colleges just take the highest scores on each sections. Therefore, they will not think low of lower reading/math and higher writing."

Most do, but not all. UCs only take highest score from a single sitting. Don't know about other colleges though.

^ Yeah, I forgot.
