To say or not to say.

I know an interview is all about promoting yourself. I have my first interview tomorrow and I ended up getting waitlisted to 4 colleges and into 1. I'm interviewing at Quinnipiac which is a college i got waitlisted to and my top choice. I know it wouldn't sound good to say i only got into one? I'm trying to promote myself and want them to want me. Therefore should i try to white lie and say i got into and waitlisted to many colleges, but I am focusing on this college because its my first choice? Just so its like me saying i can pick other colleges, but im choosing to pick you? Just need help haha i'm stuck

Never tell a white lie in an interview – it can rear back and bite you in the ass (what if the interviewer’s twin is on the admission committee of the Other School? Admin officers DO compare notes once in awhile).

If this is truly your first choice (honestly) then you have plenty to talk about. Bone up on what makes Quinn so fantastic for you. You don’t need to sound desperate – just excited about the possibility. Play the others a bit closer to the chest (yes, I do have some other choices, but I’d rather talk about me being here, because I really think that this is my first choice and if you offer me a spot I will definitely take it – at least I can make that promise until May XX when I have to let others know. What else can I tell you that helps us understand how I might fit? etc)
Good luck!

Just don’t say anything about your admissions decisions. If they specifically ask you (they shouldn’t), say something like “I got waitlisted at all the schools I was truly interested in…Quinnipiac is my top choice, so I’m really hopeful about it…”
