I am a senior who just got my SAT II scores back, and I am now faced with a dilemma: should I send my (mostly) disappointing scores to colleges or not?

Scores:
Lit: 790
IIC: 660
IC: 630
My SAT I scores (previously sent) are CR: 800, Math:710, Writing: 770, if that matters.

Colleges I am still waiting to hear from:
Allegheny College
Carleton College
Grinnell College
Haverford College
Knox College
Macalester College
Oberlin College
Swarthmore College
Wesleyan University

BTW, I have a 33 on the ACT, and these colleges just "recommend" SAT IIs with the ACT, if they ask for them at all.

Why did you take IC? :(
The curve on IC is awful, if anyone is considering taking Math IC, don't.
The Lit is exceptional and goes hand in hand with your perfect CR score and v.high Writing score, and Math 2C isn't bad . . . but they already know you're very good at reading/writing, so i don't know. . .710 is your best math score and already sent, so maybe you shouldn't unless you're in the red zone and need to send in extra materials to get in the college.

Well I think those scores, esp. if you just take the top 2, are anywhere from good to great for all the schools on your list. Plus they might think it's weird if you didn't take SAT IIs even though they are only "recommended." That 790 Lit is very solid and on the rare side as well...I say go for it, but that's just me and I can't say absolutely that it would have a positive impact. Had you taken any SAT IIs previously?

"Dear Admissions Committee,
Enclosed are my latest SATII scores. I sorta f-ed up my math score and since we all know people sometimes make mistakes, please forgive me for that.
Thanks,

Really, if you throw a little bit of humor into there telling them that you aren't specifically proud of that one score, it will go well.

I answered your same post elsewhere, but I thought I'd say the same thing here so no one reading the thread gets misled. For at least one school on the list (Haverford), SAT IIs are not optional. So be sure to doublecheck before deciding not to send anywhere ... I haven't checked the others, but I knew about Haverford.

rocketDA, I disagree with you. That will accomplish two things only, both of which are bad:
-You draw attention to the weaker score.
-You show them that you are quick to make excuses, even if you are somehow funny.

I believe you can cancel tests after you take them but before you know your score (look at the CB web site to see how this works). But once you know your score, I believe that's it. If one score is reported, they all are ...
