To Send or not to Send?

I checked both my SAT Subject and ACT scores online today. My ACT scores are decently good, but my subject scores are mediocre. Should I forget the subject scores and just send my ACT score? I may want to major in chemistry or at least some type of science, so is it best not to send a score like mine?

Also, I know I can improve my ACT math and science scores if I take them again as long as I work on timing. My problem is that I will be extremely busy during the fall with marching band. Are my scores good enough as they are or should I shoot for higher? My aspirations are schools like Bard, Oberlin, Haverford, and Beloit. Thanks, scores are below.

Subject Tests
Chem: 680
U.S. History: 700

ACT
English: 34
Math: 32
Reading: 35
Science: 29
English/Writing: 31/8

Well actually, u should check the requirements of each school… different school different requirements.
The score choice started this year, not only for SAT1 but also for SAT2. But I heard that some unis/colleges actually get into ur CB account to see how many scores u sent or something like that…
I think its gonna be ok if u don’t send ur Subject scores.
Just out of curiousity why did u take both the SAT SUB TESTS and the ACT???
HEHE…

Was I not supposed to? I took the subject tests because some schools require them, they’re used for placement/scholarships, and I wanted to see if I would do well. I took the ACT because my SAT scores weren’t very good. Did I do something wrong??

You ACT scores are excellent - and your subject test scores are as well! The students in DD’s AP death chem class historically all pull 5 on the AP, but score in the high 600s on the chem subject. 680 on Chem subject is excellent. To my mind, the Chem 680 boost the 29 ACT Science, which was your lowest ACT sub score. If for instance, you had a 29 science and a 560 on the subject test, a college would assume that science was just not your thing. But with the higher 680, application readers will assume that the 29 was an anomaly due to the weird format of that section and mentally bring it up to be in line with your other higher grades.

You test scores are fine, and you would be a asset to any university - but you might want to soft pedal the self-deprecation. Plenty of other kids with kill for your scores.

You did just fine Plecostomus - many schools do not require Sat2s but some do and some ‘recommend’ but do not require. Ivies like Harvard want 3 subject tests. The problem is that for the more selective schools those subject test scores should be pretty high to have an impact. I think it was a very good strategy to take them. For the ‘less selective’ schools it doesn’t hurt to send decent scores (which yours are) to help put you in their top applicant pool and make you eligible for merit aid.

True that some schools require ACT, but i think more unis require SAT sub tests, and um there are some specific requirements to some schools. I think your ACT scores r good, but ur SAT sub test scores might be a problem and i think if u took the test then some unis will ask for the scores. But um don’t worry about it. If you are not gonna apply to ivys or really good unis then u should be ok

oh and um by the way if u want to apply for scholarships, a 680 won’t do trust me…at least i don’t think so…
