To Shave or not To Shave (Brown Interview)

I generally go unshaven (I don’t have a thick beard but I do have significant facial hair). Would the interviewer look down on me if I didn’t shave for the interview (its next Wednesday).

I would shave.

Why would he/she look down on you? If that's your style....then that's your style. It's not like you want to braid your facial hair and add random spiky things to it...

Do whatever you do normally. That way you'll feel like yourself and be more comfortable.

I don't agree. It's important to look professional and make a good impression.

^^^ agreed

"random spiky things"

My imagination is running wild.

I honestly can't help but wonder, Aspen D, what sort of "random spiky things" one would entangle in their beastly facial hair.

You've raised a good point though: perhaps airport security should start to require that everyone shave before passing through the metal detector...

I wouldn't shave.

Thanks guys...I think I'm gonna go ahead and shave! (but leave the sideburns :P)

ChrisCap-----there's just this one kid at our school that recently got suspended who took some odd sort of metal spiky shaped balls and tangled them in his beard...and he was telling me why on earth he decided to do this so I could decide whether he shoudl be sent home or should just get detention.

lol i was thinking the exact same thing before my brown interview! I decided to shave though......

One of my Indian friends attended Harvard for undergrad. In his senior year, he was acting in a play where he had to grow out a long beard.

Despite the fact that he graduated cum laude from Harvard, he was rejected from every single medical school he applied to besides University of Alabama, most likely due to his interview.

While his beard was especially long, don't take a chance - shave.

cardene are you sure he didn't have another flaw on his app?

MCAT scores? Lack of research? involvement? essays?

Cardene's story is a little suspect, I mean come on the guy would explain his long beard, you don't graduate cum laude from Harvard and not know to explain these things

Anyway, shave

Yeah. Shave. Please. Thanks.

You'll be surprised how many brilliant people have bad communication skills.

Graduating cum laude from Harvard is not a big deal. Until recently, 90% of Harvard students graduated with honors.

As for the question...I would shave. While you want to be yourself, who knows what the interviewer's personal biases are.

don't shave....why change how you normally look to interview for a school when you're trying to show them who you are? that sounds ridiculous to me. if i got in after interviewing with fuschia hair, you can. even if you do look like a mountain man. i hear they are very friendly, and well read.
