To sleep, or not to sleep... that is the question.

Alarm is set for 6:05 AM.

You wake up, glance at the clock, and it's 5:58 AM. You've got seven minutes.

Do you go back to sleep for 2 minutes and have to endure the pain of waking up once again, or lay there for seven agonizing minutes as weights try to pull your eyes shut?

I usually spend that whole seven minutes debating with myself over which of these to do.

Ah, this happens a LOT to me!! :-/

I lay there and, well, snuggle in my blankets and tell myself "you've got 7 minutes left in bed before you've got to get up. ENJOY IT. Realize how lucky you are to not have that effing alarm clock blaring right now. Just relax for a min, then do what you've got to do."

In other words, I don't go to sleep, and I don't want/try to go to sleep. I just lay there and relax, and slowly try to get up.

^
Same

Except I have like 3 alarm clocks and don't get up until the third one.

haha.

same...except i dont get up...but nowadays, with the cold weather, i dont WANT to get up.

sometimes I can't hear my alarm clock, lol.
I usually need my dad to wake me up.

alarm rings, i look at it, close my eyes and rest for 5 minutes, and finaly get up when one of my parents storms into my room and yells

LOL. I have dual alarm clocks in my radio, 1 in my cell, 1 in my watch. All of them are set at almost the same time (7:00, give or take a few seconds in between). They drive me crazy but if one doesn't work then I can hear the others.

And I actually try to sleep in just 2 minutes.

i quit setting my alarm clock. if my mom doesnt wake me i dont go to school lol

I go back to sleep, no question. I actually reset an alarm today for an extra 5 minutes- i am that exhausted each morning.

I like waking up a bit earlier and having a few minutes to gather the energy to get up. Otherwise, I walk into the kitchen stumbling into walls and falling down stairs.

6:05? What? People wake up that early?

I typically wake up at 6 am if I finish all of my homework, 5 am if I need to study, 4 if I need to finish homework

It depends on when I got home from the lab the previous day. 7:00 PM or later sleep in twenty-thirty minutes, earlier than that I'll just get clothes on, wash up, and go back to sleep for like ten minutes before I have to go to school.

i just lie there and try not to think about the exam I have (latley) if I dont have exams dont get up until like 9 anyways

i roll over and change my alarm so it will go off ten minutes later...then i get 20 more minutes
and i am happy
haha

and OMG! i wish i could wake up at 9 every morning
i have to be at school ar 6:40 every morning
it blows

^^^^ lolololol, I always feel like I've missed something terribly important whenever I oversleep (partially justified, lol). I cringe when I wake up and look at the clock and see that it's even a smidge past six, lol. I'd hate rising after the sun...

Anyhow, I don't use an alarm clock, but if ever I wake at 3ish or so I go back to sleep till 5 (my normal time). If it's within half an hour to that then it depends upon how well rested I feel...

In answering the actual topic question, in that original scenario I'd sleep 10/10, hands down.

finished school xD on stuvac (something the stupid board of studies made up suposedly study vacation) but as of next thursday I'm DOOOOOOOOOONEE and then I can sleep however late I want!

LOLOLOLOLololol doomster you are MESSED UP. Seriously.

Anyway, yeah I always go back to sleep. And if I actually happened to wake up before my alarm [which hasn't happened since, like, middle school when I didn't have to wake up till like 8:30!!! gah.], I would most likely set the alarm for like 25 minutes later, since I'd realize how very exhausted I am.
But either way, my sleeping schedule isn't exactly typical either, so this doesn't reeeeeeally apply to me, I guess. I sleep 4~5 hours a night [lately anyhow, I've really settled in to my biphasic thing now, and it's working a bit better] and then like 3~4 more after school, if I don't have to work or go somewhere important in the afternoon. I'm still uber exhausted, but I simply have never been able to go to sleep at a decent time, and when you have to wake up at ~5:30, that really just doesn't work. So now I'm less exhausted than I would be with a normal sleeping cycle.
Eeeeehhhh though, if you miss a rotation and just try to keep going, it is RIDICULOUS! [Lol, since that's what I"m doing today.. uwela. I cannot function on 4 hours of sleep, but I suppose I shall try.]

Waking up before an alarm? Is that even possible? I never thought...

For me to do that I'd have slept at least 14 hours after I wake up without an alarm.
