D22 has narrowed down the schools in which she plans to submit scores, and those in which she will apply TO. With the exception of Udel. My alma mater. Sigh.
She has 3.97UW/4.11W, 27 ACT
Their published data on their site for first year admitted student profile for mid 50%
GPA: 3.67-4.19
ACT: 24-29
BUT, and a big BUT. Nursing average GPA is a 4.1 and ACT is a 29/30 per her AO. We are OOS.
We have waivered back and forth for weeks and ready to pull the trigger. Pros, cons, anything to help? Thank you! And last post, promise!
I would not submit a score below the average since her GPA is so solid.

I agree , she should not submit her 27 ACT, as long as UD is TO for nursing.

Definitely TO - and at many schools, maybe even most, over 50% of attendees are TO. Wesleyan is over 40% and it’s elite. Trinity and Conn College are near 60% - and they’re just a tier lower.
I think TO is HUGE - so not submitting should not hurt.

Thanks all! We went with TO. D22 said I would rather not submit my scores and if I don’t get in I know a 27 wouldn’t have helped me anyway. Good logic I suppose.

It’s a good way to make the decision for the rest of her apps. If her score doesn’t strengthen her app, don’t send it. In the case above, seems the test score could weaken the app, given her GPA (of course we don’t know everything about the app……rigor, essays, LoRs).
Good luck!

What is the cutoff for submitting scores in people’s estimation.
If the middle 50% of a school is 1240-1400 what is the Mendoza Line for score submission?
There is not universal agreement.
First, look to schools’ admission sessions for direction…some will say don’t submit unless at the median or above (or give other tips).
Generally, most applicants shouldn’t submit below the 25%ile. 25%ile to 50%ile is gray area.
Several factors can play in to the decision…does the score match the GPA/course rigor, or is it discrepant? Is the applicant a recruited athlete or URM? Males get more leeway than females at many schools. But, each situation is unique.
Bottom line, if the score doesn’t strengthen the app, why send it?
