To Take or Not To Take???

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping for some advice on whether or not to take the SAT in Jan. My Nov. SAT (listed below) scores were decent (nowhere near as awesome as those of many people here...but they were acceptable). However, my new Dec. scores(listed below) were absolutely awful! So my problem is that I dont want my colleges to see the terrible math score that i recieved in Dec.

Should I retake and try to improve or should I just settle with the Nov scores (which were sent before taking the Dec. exam so all my colleges already have those scores)?

According to my dad, i should deff not send the scores because the math score is so embaressing...Any other advice would really be appreciated. Thanks.

Dec SAT:
490-math <--the awful part
680-verbal
710-writing

Nov SAT:
510-math
650-verbal
720-writing

bumpity bump..c'mon people, Jan registration is tomorrow! :D

your major is...?

lol..deff not math...its English/Journalism actually

bummmmmp once again...

OK, do some major test-prepping using some test books off amazon, and then take the SAT again. I mean, you're lucky your trouble area is math, because that is one thing you can improve a lot on simply through studying. Personally, I find CR to be the most intuitive and therefore the most annoying/hardest section to improve on/prepare for! So consider yourself lucky, study some more, take the Jan SAT, and if that's not possible then by all means use the Nov score.

thanks jimbob, i really appreciate your advice...does anyone else, however, think that if the average college even saw a score under 500 they would reconsider admitting a student?

usually they only look at the highest scores. Also, your Dcember testing isn't any worse that the November, it adds up to an 1880 both times. Take it again, colleges won't care that you have a 490 because you have done better.

thanks a bunch for your response alright...i know the composite is the same; im just worried about the math score that fell below 500 bc colleges look at each score individually
