To take or not to take...

I got a 2010 on the SAT in April and now I'm signed up for June. I'm just afraid if I do worse then it'll make me look worse...If it matters I'm trying to get into UVA and I have a 3.8/3.9 GPA.

are you in-state or out of state? what's your class rank? what's your section by section break down on the SAT?

I'm in state in fairfax county. I don't know my rank. Verbal - 700, Math - 660, Writing - 650.

Only retake if you think you have a chance of improving. Those scores look pretty good already.

Keep taking practice tests and if you're improving, take it in June. If not, don't.

Fairfax county is pretty competitive, though. I have a lot of friends from that area who talk about people who didn't get into UVa only because there were so many qualified kids from their high schools, even though their stats were good enough. So, if I were you, I would retake unless that was the best score of your life. Especially if you go to TJ.

Nah I don't go to TJ. Well my friend got into UVA and he had an 1880 on the SAT and similar grades, but he's also a swim team captain which probably matters.

my experience...

i had a 2020..wanted a 2100. took it again and got a 1860 (YIKES!!!). The next time, I studied, prepared, etc..got a 2130. so..i guess the moral of this story is if you screw up, you can always take it again :)
