to take science or not to take science??

Hi everyone,

I hope this school year is going well for all of you. Course registration has started in my school and I am in the progress of choosing my classes for senior year because I am a junior right now. I wanted some advice on the science course next year. I am debating between Honors Physics or AP Environmental Science. I know that colleges prefer to see a bio, chem, and physics class but because I am aiming for UPenn, I feel like I should have completed at least one AP science course. Also, I feel like Environmental Science is not considered to be as important as bio, chem, or physics. Could anyone please give me some insight on this? Here is the rest of my senior year schedule:

AP English Literature
AP Calculus AB
Honors Physics or AP Environmental Science (debating)
AP Comparative Government
AP Spanish
Latin 3
Sociology
Intro to Law

Any input would be appreciated!

Don’t take the AP Enviro if you don’t want to, same with the physics course. However, I would recommend taking the honors physics course if you are considering majoring in physics, and to lighten your load a bit. Best of luck!

Your schedule looks great! Have fun in Sociology! I am in it right now, and it is a blast! I really hope you enjoy it.

While there’s nothing wrong with APES, especially if you’re not majoring in the sciences (from your electives, I am assuming you’re a humanities person), only sign up for APES if you have taken at least a year of bio, chem, and physics already. If you’re missing physics, I recommend Honors Physics over APES, because it can put you at a disadvantage if you don’t.

Best of luck and have a good day!

@nekoatsume hi! thank you for your response! and even though I do not want to major in physics, I might take honors physics because I only have one year of bio and chem and I know colleges like to see bio, chem and physics.

@anthonytheboy hi! and thank you! my friends are in sociology right now and they as well say that it’s really fun. and because i’m missing physics, i’ll probably take the honors course. thank you for your advice!

more important to take Bio, Chem, and Physics than to take AP Env Science.
