Hi, I am going to be a senior next year and am wondering If I should take spanish 4. I have completed the language requirement with my 3 years of language. I am already signed up for BC calculus and Phyiscs C next year so thats 9 periods with lunch.

BTW does anyone know if NYU recommends 4 years of language?

Thanks

Take it!

I'm taking Spanish 4 right now and it's been the most fun year of Spanish I've had yet! I don't know what your course curriculum is at your school, but at my school Spanish 4 focuses more on the culture than the language. We've read Don Quixote and Sombrero de Tres Picos and even had an art unit, which was really fun.

Although you've satisfied the language requirements at your school, I'm sure all colleges would say that four years of language is a good thing. Don't let what you've already learned go to waste.

I have to say that i hate Spanish IV.. it was a waste of time, didn't help my understanding of the language at all, it was more a history and literature course in Spanish. Maybe my teacher was just bad.

9 periods???
that's pretty insane...list all of your classes and I will tell you if you should take it
at my school, spanish IV is pretty intense, and the teacher assigns a ton of work, if it is like this for your school, you might want to reconsider it since you're taking physics C, which takes a lot of self-studying (well at least it does at my school...)

Pretty insane? I have 9 periods, not including lunch. I don't even have one.

Anyways, take the Spanish IV. Foreign languages are one of -the- nicest things, class-wise, a college will see. Much better than, say, Current Events. In most cases, anyways.

More language = mucho better!

take spanish 4 because it will help you become stronger in talking and thinking in spanish...

Look at some of the requirements of colleges you are interested in. I think I am right that my son will not have to take a language in college as 4 years of a language in high school exempts him from taking a language.

take it. spanish rocks.

also, more selective colleges like to see that you challenged yourself beyond just the minimum requirements.
