To take the position or not to take the position?

okay so no one else in my school is really running for president of the student council.
so if i put in my app, i will be the president.

however, there is a time issue.
i am already the:
Vice President of NHS (meetings every tues)
Student Representative to the Board of Education
county Director for an official state student political organization
i play varsity soccer (which lasts everyday from august to october >.<)
main editor of school newspaper (trying to make it bigger)
financial adviser for a small organization

I will also be in 3 ap classes.
My first SAT was a 1950-- but it should now be 2000+ after my retake last week.
my gpa is a 4.0---ranked number 1.

im a URM
i won gold in a state-level writing competition
im attending a competitive business program at the ross school of business during the summer
i received a student of the year award--school level

Considering this, should i take the position as President of the Student Council or just focus on what im already doing?
Im applying to HYPS and other top schools.

bumppp… :D

yo! somebody help me out…please :(

Why not? Too much time?

Does Student Council take up a class period? It’s not TOO much of a time commitment but you should try it!

hmmmmm hmmm meetings are every friday…the present president doesnt seem to be doing much either…

hmm im considering it.
i need a good logical argument for either side before i make the decision lol

What are some of the duties? If the duties seem too much for you to handle, then obviously drop it.

in my schooll…its really a position where you do as much or as little as you would like.
sometimes all it takes is to show up to meetings every friday and just talk…no action just talk.

Sounds like it doesn’t take much commitment so I’d suggest taking it. However, if I were you, I’d focus on getting those scores up. If you’re considering HYPS, a 1950-2000 is extremely low, even for an URM.

Student Council/ASB is disgustingly useless.

I don’t see why not! Go for it!
