I was just curious, but what are the typical scores and credentials of a Richmond Scholar?

Also... how many people apply for it and become semifinalists/finalists.

Here's the 2007-2008 Richmond Scholar Annual Report from the U of R web site.

wow that was very detailed & informative - thanks!

Yes, thank you very much!

But, I'm still curious as to what the mean test scores were of the semifinalists-- do you happen to have that information? I know scores are not the end all be all, but they are among the least subjective ways of determining whether I have a chance.

Again, Thank you!

i'm sorry but we don't calculate the test averages for semi-finalists. it is a holistic process. many people with very strong numbers do not make this cut, so knowing the number is unlikely to help you assess your odds.

"We interviewed 82 finalists (10 were in dual designations) and made 74 offers (3 were in dual designations)."

It seems like over 90% of those chosen to visit eventually receive an offer. Are there reasons why those few do not make the cut?

Yes, there are reasons why those don't make the cut. But the reasons for each student could be quite different. Maybe they didn't interview well. Maybe the faculty committee just didn't consider the student to be the right fit. There could be many reasons why certain students aren't chosen. It is a selective process.

Aren't you ascribing to the UR Adcoms omniscience rather than omnipotence? Though their knowledge knows no bounds, their powers are, thankfully, limited to admit or deny.
